One hundred and seventh Meeting of the Parish Council
held in the School-room Great Longstone
on the 30th of October 1907

Present

The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed

Hedge Cutting

It was stated that the occupiers of the allotment gardens had cut the hedges satisfactorily

Footpath

Mr Bridge proposed and Mr Skidmore seconded that Messrs Wagers A/c of 8/- for gravelling footpath be paid a cheque was therefore signed for that amount

School Manager

Mr Wager gave notice that at the next meeting he should propose that a resolution be passed rescinding the appointment of Mr Thornhill as School-manager.

Midland Railway

A letter was read which had been received from the Midland Railway in reply to this Councils request, stating that they would attend to the clearance of the footpath

Ownership of Land

Mr Wager proposed and Mr Bridge seconded that the Enclosure Award be produced at the next meeting for the purpose of identifying the ownership of a piece of land situate at the Outrake

Rubbish Tip

It was stated that the work of levelling the “rubbish tip” had been done at a cost of 7/6 to the Parish Council, which sum was to be raised voluntarily

The question as to the fixing of a notice board to be deferred until the next meeting

Village Pump

It was decided that the Clerk should write to Mr Lakin Supt of Police requesting that he instruct the local constable to caution the boys in the village if seen throwing stones, as the village pumps are nearly continually out of order, and it is attributed largely to the boys tampering with and practise of throwing stones at.

Also to state that several complaints had been made respecting children letting off fireworks in the village.

Telegraph Office

The sum of £1 : 15 : 8 had been refunded by the Postmaster-General in respect of the guarantee of the Great Longstone Telegraph Office
