GREAT LONGSTONE PARISH COUNCIL
MINUTES OF THE ANNUAL PARISH MEETING ON WEDNESDAY 10TH MAY 2017

Present: Cllr Wendy Long (Chair), Cllr Peter Thompson (Vice Chair), Cllr Phil Barrett, Cllr James Cox, Sarah Stokes (Clerk), 2 parishioners and UTE.

The Chair opened the meeting at 7pm.

1. Apologies for absence.

Apologies were received from Cllr Caroline Briggs.

2. Minutes of the Annual Parish Meeting Wednesday 25th May 2016.

The minutes were proposed by Cllr Long and seconded by Cllr Cox.

3. Chair’s report.

The Chairs report highlighted the main improvements made by the Parish Council during the year;

  • the widening of the gap in the recreation area boundary wall;
  • installation of –
    – play area gate;
    – outdoor fitness equipment;
    – lightweight tennis post and net;
    – basketball and netball hoops;
    – purchase of line marking machine (following the increase of the junior football club using the area);
  • imminent installation of the second defibrillator to go on the tea hut,
  • new dog signs;
  • two new benches on the village green;
  • and an additional DDD Council
    installed bin on the rec.

Thanks went to the determined Clerk and committed Councillors along with those paid and unpaid who help maintain the standards within the village.

On behalf of the Parish Council, Cllr Thompson thanked Cllr Long for her efforts going above and beyond the role as Chair.

4. Persons on electoral roll. Matters to raise.

Planning. Resident 1. The Parishioner complained about the handling of a neighbouring planning consent as he felt the Parish Council could have done more to support his complaints about privacy issues. He understood that ultimately the decisions were taken by the Peak Park Planning Officers, but he was not happy with the outcome.

Facilities on the recreation area. Resident 2. Thanks went to the Council for all their work on the recreation area, with all the new equipment for children to use, with more to play on.

The Meeting was closed at 7.23 pm
