Eighty second Meeting of the Parish Council
held in the School Room
Great Longstone on Decᵣ 11ᵗʰ 1902

The Minutes of the last Meeting were read and confirmed.

Mr Thornhill signed the Declaration of acceptance of Office as Parish councillor for the Parish of Great Longstone.

A letter had been received from Mrs Orr, thanking the Parish Council for their sympathy with herself and family in their bereavement.

Stoke Flat Water Scheme

The Clerk read a letter from Messrs Sterling & Swann in reply to this councils inquiry respecting the above scheme in which they state that the connections will be made with the mains, without delay, when the contractors work has been tested and proved satisfactory.

Telegraph Office

A letter was read that had been received from the Postmaster General informing the Parish Council, that the revenue for the year ending the 11ᵗʰ September 1902 had been sufficient to cover the amount guaranteed.

A circular respecting the acquisition of land, and an abstract of the Quarries Act 1894, were brought before the Council, but at present do not apply to this Parish.

Precept on Overseers

It was proposed by Mr Thornhill and seconded by Mr Dixon that a Precept be drawn on the Overseers for £10, to be paid on December 13ᵗʰ 1902.

Footpaths

A cheque for £1 : 17 : 3 was drawn in favour of Mr Wm Furniss in payment of his a/c for gravelling footpaths and a cheque for 6/- was drawn in favour of Mr Saml Hallows for repairing footpath.

Holme Meal Charity

A cheque for £8 : 17 : 8 having been received for the Holme Meal Charity, a portion of which was due to the Churchwardens of Bakewell, a cheque was therefore drawn in favour of the Churchwardens of Bakewell for £1 : 2 : 2, leaving with last years balance of £8 the sum of £7 : 16 : 2 to be distributed.

Tenders for supplying Dole Meal having been invited the only one received was from Mrs Green, as follows
Viz.
Oatmeal 1/- per peck
Good Flour 1/4 per stone

This being the only tender received, it was accepted.
