Council Meeting – 9th January 1902
Seventy seventh Meeting of the Parish Council
held on January 9th 1902
in the Schoolroom Great Longstone.
Present: Rev. G. Andrew (Chairman)
Messrs Coe, Dixon, Spanton & Ward & J. Shimwell (Clerk)
The Minutes of the last Meeting were read and confirmed.
Station Lane
Mr Dixon proposed that Mr Hawley, the Rural District Council Surveyor, be again written to, asking him to have the ditch by the side of the road near the Station cleared out.
Station Footpath
As Mr Andrew had expended the sum of £10..7½d in repairing and clearing snow off the Station Footpath it was proposed by Mr Dixon and seconded by Mr Spanton that the amount be refunded to him.
It was proposed by Mr Spanton and seconded by Mr Coe that Mr Ward be empowered to act for this Council in cases of emergency for dealing with the clearing of snow on footpaths.
Holme Meal Charity
The Clerk having received a cheque for £9..10..4 for the Holme meal charity he had paid the same to the Treasurer to the credit of the Parish Council.
A cheque for £1..3..9 had been drawn in favour of the Churchwardens of Bakewell, which was the amount due to them from this Council as their portion of the above charity.
As last year’s portion of the above charity due to the Churchwardens of Bakewell had not been paid, but it had been distributed to the Poor of Great Longstone, owing to there being no statement in the Minute Books to show that any such payment had been previously made.
It was therefore proposed by Mr Spanton and seconded by Mr Andrew that a cheque for £1..2..2 be drawn in favour of the Churchwardens of Bakewell, which was the amount due to them as their portion of the Holme meal charity for 1901, leaving with 1/3rd balance from last year the sum of £7..5..8 to be distributed.
Tenders for supplying Dole Meal having been invited the only one received was from Mrs Green, as follows viz.
-
