Thirty-fifth meeting of the Parish Council held in the School Room, Great Longstone,
on July 23rd, 1897.
Present:
Mr. S. Johnson (Chairman)
Messrs. J. Johnson, J. Wood, W.A. Stanton, and I. Shimwell (Clerk).
The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed.
The Clerk stated that he had attended the Audit. The Auditor would not allow the payment to Mr. Foster in respect until the Local Government Board had been written to and allowed the payment. They were finally passed correct.
Gilder Quarry
G. T. Wright Esq. having issued a notice to the Parishioners claiming trespass on stones got at Gilder Quarry, it was decided that the Parish Council resist the action of Mr. Wright.
On the motion of Mr. J. Johnson, seconded by Mr. J. Wood, it was unanimously decided that the Parish Council go in a body to the Quarry and get and carry away a load of stone from the Gilder Quarry, in order that Mr. Wright may summon the Parish Council and have the matter tested in the County Court.
It was arranged to meet on Saturday the 31st inst. at 2 o’clock.
The Clerk was directed to inform either Mr. Wright or Mr. Taylor on the subject.
