One hundred and twenty second meeting of the Parish Council
held at the residence of Mr Eyre “The Mount” Great Longstone
on the 15ᵗʰ of December 1909.

Present, Mr A. W. J. Eyre (Chairman) Messrs J. Bridge, W. Orr, A. J. Skidmore, J. Wager & I. Shimwell (Clerk)

The minutes of the last meeting were read and signed.

Fire Extinguishing Appliance

Tenders having been invited for the supply of the Fire Extinguishing Appliances as described in the minutes of the last meeting.

The following quotations had been received viz —

  • Messrs Shand Mason & Co. £50 : 8 : 0
  • Messrs Merryweathers £62 : 8 : 0
  • Messrs J. A. Ashton £66 : 18 : 6
  • Messrs R. Nattkinson £55 : 8 : 9

Mr Orr proposed and Mr Skidmore seconded that Messrs Shand Mason & Co’s tender be accepted, and it was decided to defer ordering the appliances until sufficient funds had been received to cover the cost.

The Clerk stated that he had received the sum of £3 : 3 : 0 from Mr C. H. Armitage, and that the following subscriptions had been promised viz —

  • Mr G. J. Furness £10 : 0 : 0
  • Mr A. W. J. Eyre £5 : 0 : 0
  • Mr W. H. Wright £5 : 0 : 0

Mr Bridge proposed and Mr Orr seconded that the Clerk write to the Owners of property who would be able to have use of the appliances asking if they are willing to subscribe towards the fund.

Consent was given for letters to be printed for this purpose.

Holme Meal Charity

The Clerk was instructed to invite tenders from the principal shopkeepers in the village for the supply of Meal & Flour required in the distribution of the Holme Meal Charity.
