One hundred and eighteenth meeting of the Parish Council
held in the Schoolroom Great Longstone
on the 15ᵗʰ April 1909.

Present:
Mr A. W. J. Eyre (Chairman)
Messrs J. Bridge, W. Orr, A. J. Skidmore, J. Wager & I. Shimwell (Clerk)

The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed.

School Manager

The Derbyshire Education Committee returned the nomination of Mr Eyre stating that he was not eligible for appointment by the County Council while representing the Parish Council on the Longstone & District School.

It was therefore proposed by Mr Eyre and seconded by Mr Orr that Mr Bridge be nominated as County Council representative of the above school to hold office until 31ˢᵗ March 1913.

Fire Extinguishing Appliance

It was estimated that an efficient Fire Extinguishing Appliance would cost about £36, but before taking any further steps in the matter the Clerk was instructed to inform the Midland Railway Company of the Parish Council’s intention with regard to the above, and to enquire what sum they would be willing to contribute towards the purchase of same.

Refuse Tip

An account of £1 : 17 : 0 had been received from Mr A. W. J. Eyre for supplying and fixing a notice board for the Refuse Tip.

It was estimated that ½d in the £ on the rateable value of houses in the village would produce sufficient to meet the above voluntary expenditure, and the Rate Collector was requested to try and obtain this when collecting the rates.

Appointment of Overseers

Mr Eyre proposed and Mr Orr seconded that Mr J. Bridge be appointed Overseer of the Poor for the ensuing year.

Mr Skidmore proposed and Mr Wager seconded that Mr W. Orr be appointed Overseer of the Poor for the ensuing year.

Mr Wager proposed and Mr Bridge seconded that Mr Samuel Johnson be appointed Overseer of the Poor for the ensuing year.

Chairman

Mr Eyre was unanimously elected Chairman of the Parish Council for the ensuing year and Mr Bridge was unanimously elected Vice Chairman.

Signed
A. W. J. Eyre
