One hundred and first Meeting of the Parish Council
held in the School-room Great Longstone
on the 14th day of February 1907

The Minutes of the last Meeting were read and confirmed

Transfer of Holme

Mr Dixon proposed and Mr Andrew seconded that the Clerk write to Mr Hawes drawing his attention to the House of Lords having reversed the decision of the lower courts in the case of the Caterham Rural District Council and the Borough of Croydon and to ask whether in view of that decision it would be advisable for this Council to enter an appeal against the decision of the Derbyshire County Council in order to get compensation sustained through the loss of Holme

Midland Railway

It was resolved that the Clerk write to the Midland Railway Co asking if they will grant the issuing of cheap tickets at Longstone Station to the principal towns & pleasure resorts on their system as the residents of the village find it very inconvenient by having to travel to Bakewell in order to avail themselves of the reduced fares

Fire Apparatus

Mr Andrew proposed and Mr Spanton seconded that the Clerk write to Mr Hawes asking if he will kindly inform this Council what powers the Parish Council have for acquiring a fire extinguishing apparatus

Lopping Trees

In compliance with notice received from the County Council Surveyor requiring the lopping of trees overhanging the main road in the village it was decided to accept Mr Wm Eyre’s offer to do the work which he proposed to do free of cost on condition of being allowed to have the timber

Holme Meal Charity

The Clerk having received a cheque value £9.10.4 for the Holme Meal Charity he had paid the same into the Sheffield & Rotherham Bank to the credit of the Parish Council

The portion of the above Charity due to the Churchwardens of Bakewell being £1.3.9 a cheque was drawn for that amount, leaving with last years balance of 7d the sum of £8.7.2 to be distributed

Tenders having been invited for the supply of Oatmeal and Flour the only one received was from Mrs Green as follows viz:
Oatmeal 1..2 per peck
Good Flour 1..5 per stone

This being the only tender received it was accepted

Tolls

The Clerk omitted to report at the last meeting that he had paid the sum of 9/- to the credit of the Parish Council being the amount of Tolls collected by Mr Dixon from the Proprietors of stalls standing in the Village green on the occasion of the Club feast held June 25th
