Annual Parish Meeting – 14th March 1898

Monday, March 14th, 1898

Minutes of the Parish Meeting held in the School Room, Great Longstone, on March 14th, 1898, for the purpose of nominating and electing Parish Councillors to serve for the ensuing year.

Mr. Samuel Johnson, Chairman of the Parish Council, took the chair and called for nomination papers.

On these being handed in, it was found that Mr. S. Johnson was nominated as a Parish Councillor. He then vacated the chair, when the Rev. G. Andrew was unanimously appointed Chairman of the meeting.

The following persons were nominated, viz.:
Henry Arthur Stanton
Isaac Bennett
Joseph Johnson
Peter John Furness
Joseph Wood
Samuel Johnson

The Chairman, having waited the requisite time and there being no further nominations nor any withdrawals, declared the foregoing six persons to be duly elected to serve as Parish Councillors for the ensuing year.

The Annual Assembly of the Parish Meeting was then held, the Rev. G. Andrew still in the chair.

The minutes of the last meeting, held on March 31st, 1897, were then read and confirmed.

The accounts of the various Charities were then presented and read before the meeting.
