One hundred and ninth meeting of the Parish Council
held in the School-room Great Longstone
on the 27ᵗʰ March 1908

The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed

It was resolved that this Council hereby record its sorrow caused by the death of His Grace the Duke of Devonshire

Assistant Overseer

On the recommendation of the Overseers, it was proposed by Mr Orr and seconded by Mr Eyre that the sum of £5 be voted to the Asst Overseer for collecting the Special Sanitary Rate made on the 30ᵗʰ Novʳ 1907

Precept on Overseers

It was proposed by Mr Skidmore and seconded by Mr Orr that a Precept be drawn on the Overseers for the sum of £1 to be paid on the 30ᵗʰ inst

Parish Property

The Clerk stated that he had written to Mr J. Lomas requesting him to repair the fences on the land he occupies belonging to the Parish, but that nothing had been done. The Overseers had served him with notice on the 23ʳᵈ inst stating that his tenancy of the land will terminate on the 25ᵗʰ of March 1909, as a portion of the land may be required for extending the Refuse Tip.

Gilder Quarry

It was considered advisable to make an alteration in the road through Gilder Quarry leading to Mr Wright’s land.
Mr J. Bridge offered to see Mr Wright and explain the matter to him

Charities

The Clerk was instructed to return the list of Charities presented by the Vicar, and to request him to affix the amounts received by each person

Dole Meal

A cheque for £8 : 17 : 4 had been paid to Mr Green for supplying the Holme Meal Charity.

Payments

Cheques for the following amounts were signed viz —

£2 : 5 : 6 in payment of Messrs Wagers A/c for gravelling footpaths, and for 16/6 to I. Shimwell for expenses incurred
