Dear Sir,
On the 28th of March 1905 the Parish Council of Great Longstone elected Mr Thornhill as representative manager of the Longstone National School for a period of 2 years expiring 31st March 1907.
On the 28th of March 1907 the Parish Council who were retiring as a body, again elected Mr Thornhill for a period of 3 years to expire 31st March 1910.
The newly appointed Parish Council of Great Longstone are anxious to have your opinion as to whether this appointment was in order, as they feel to have the claim to have appointed this manager themselves, seeing that this managers service did not end until the 31st March.
Yours Truly
J. Shimwell
