Council Meeting – 14th January 1901
Seventy first Meeting of the Parish Council held in the Schoolroom, Great Longstone
on January 14th 1901.
Present: Rev. G. Andrew (Chairman)
Messrs Dixon, Spanton, Coe & Ward and J. Shimwell, Clerk.
A letter having been received from Mr J. Hawley, the Rural District Surveyor, stating the Council’s unliability to repair the footpath leading from The Old Harrow Inn to the Post Office.
It was therefore proposed by Mr Dixon and seconded by Mr Spanton that the County Surveyor of Highways be written to, asking him to repair the above footpath.
Station Footpath
Mr Coe proposed and Mr Dixon seconded that the footpath leading to the Station be repaired and drained. The Clerk was instructed to apply to Mr Jasper Johnson to repair the footpath with 6 loads of gravel on condition that he would do it at 3/- per load, and also to do the drainage.
Public Scavenging
Mr Spanton proposed and Mr Coe seconded that the Clerk write to Mr Hawes (Clerk to the Bakewell Rural District Council) stating that the Resolution of the Parish Council of Oct. 11th 1900 re Public Scavenging be rescinded and that they withdraw their opposition to any reasonable system of Public Scavenging.
The Clerk stated that having received the sum of £8–17–8 for the Dole Meal Account he had paid the same to the Treasurer to the credit of the Parish Council.
Dole Meal
Tenders for the supply of Dole Meal were received as under:

Proposed by Mr Dixon and seconded by Mr Ward that Mrs Lowe’s tender be accepted.
