Fifty-first Meeting of the Parish Council held in the School-Room Great Longstone
on Thursday January 5th 1899
Present:

Messrs W. R. Hill-Dixon, A. A. Spanton, J. Johnson, J. Bennell and C. H. Buzzard, Clerk
The minutes of the last meeting were read & confirmed.
The Clerk then read a letter he had received from G. J. Wright Esq asking for information re. the stopping up of the “Middleston Bridle Road”. It was decided to leave it to the Clerk to explain the matter to Mr Wright.
The question of the overflow of water on the footpath across Little Lane below of Thornbridge Pringle was then discussed, when it was agreed that it was a matter which entirely rested with the owners of the property.
Proposed by Mr W. R. Hill-Dixon & seconded by Mr A. A. Spanton
“That the resolutions of the Parish Council passed on the 6th October 1898 relating to the proposed closing of the High Low Meadow Footpath be rescinded.”
Carried unanimously.
Proposed by Mr W. R. Hill-Dixon & seconded by Mr A. A. Spanton
“That the Parish Council deem such footpath unnecessary for the public convenience and consent to its closing and further that the suggested diversions of certain other footpaths in the Parish be agreed to.”

Against: Messrs S. Johnson & J. Johnson.

“That Mr A. A. Spanton be re-elected a Trustee of Capt. Henry Wright’s Charity until Jan. 1902.”

“That a precept be drawn on the Overseers for £5 to be paid on January 11th 1899.”
Proposed by Mr W. Dixon & seconded by Mr Bennell
“That Mr Jasper Johnson’s a/c of £1 : 5 : 0 for gravel be paid.”
Tender for Dole Meal having been invited the only one received was from Mrs Green as follows:
Good Flour — 1/5½ per stone
Oatmeal — 1/- per peck
This being the only tender received it was accepted.
