Council Meeting – 29th September 1905
Ninety sixth Meeting of the Parish Council
held in the School-room Great Longstone
on the 29th day of September 1905.
Present
Rev. G. Andrew (Chairman)
Messrs Thornhill and Ward and Shimwell (Clerk)
The Minutes of the last Meeting were read and confirmed.
Special Sanitary Precept
The Clerk was instructed to write to Mr Hawes, Clerk of the Bakewell Rural District Council asking to be informed why the Calls made on the parish of Great Longstone for Special Sanitary expenses are not more reduced, as the Parish Council were led to believe that when the connections to the Water Main were completed, the Water rentals would contribute to considerably lessen the Calls.
Assistant Overseer
On the recommendation of the Overseers Mr Andrew proposed and Mr Thornhill seconded that the sum of £5 be voted to the Assistant Overseer for collecting the Special Sanitary Rate made the 15th day of June 1905.
Rifle Clubs
A letter was read from Field Marshal Lord Roberts suggesting the formation of Clubs for rifle shooting as a national pursuit and soliciting subscriptions in aid of the same.
The Clerk was instructed to reply that the Parish Council would give the matter their consideration.
