Council Meeting – 25th August 1898

August 25th, 1898
Forty-eighth Meeting of the Parish Council held in the School Room, Great Longstone,
on Thursday, August 25th, 1898.

Present:
Mr S. Johnson, Chairman.
Messrs H. A. Spanton, W. R. Pilling Dixon, Jos. Johnson, S. Bennett, and C. H. Buzzard, Clerk.

The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed.

The Clerk having read a letter from G. T. Wright Esq. respecting the boundary line of Gilder Quarry on the east side, and the ownership of the fences of the quarry, the following resolution was unanimously carried:—

“Proposed by Mr H. A. Spanton, seconded by Mr W. R. Pilling Dixon, that the Chairman and Clerk arrange to meet Mr Wright to discuss the ownership of the fences of Gilder Stone Quarry, to define the boundary line on the east side of the quarry, and to draft a form of Agreement in regard to a yearly tenancy of the herbage adjoining the quarry.”

The Chairman and Clerk were also requested to confer with Mr Wright respecting the repairs to the footpath crossing his property leading to the Station, also to inform Mr Wright of the stopping up of a Bridle Road passing through his property and known as the “Middleton Bridle Road.”
