One hundred and twenty seventh meeting of the Parish Council
held at the residence of Mr Eyre “The Mount” Great Longstone
on the 25th of April 1910.

Present
Mr A. W. J. Eyre (Chairman) Messrs J. Bridge, A. J. Skidmore, J. Wager and I. Shimwell (Clerk).

The minutes of the last meeting were read & signed.

Charity Accounts

A letter was read from Mr Andrew saying that the request of the Parish Council will be referred to the Trustees of the Charity.

It was decided to adjourn the matter.

Precept

It was proposed by Mr Wager, seconded by Mr Skidmore and carried, that a precept be drawn on the Overseers for the sum of £5 to be paid on the 30th of April.

Footpaths

A cheque was signed for £3 2s 4d payable to I. Shimwell for the following accounts, viz—

Messrs Wagers £2 14s 0d for supplying 18 loads of gravel to the side of the footroad near the White Lion Inn & also to Cracken jennel.

Mr W. Eyre 8s 4d for 2½ days preparing road & spreading gravel.

Fire Appliances

The Clerk was instructed to write to Messrs Shand Mason & Co., asking them to send one of their men on the 7th of May, to give instruction in the working of the Fire appliances.

Ponsford v. Swift

It was proposed by Mr Eyre seconded by Mr Bridge and carried unanimously, that this Council send a letter to the Bakewell Board of Guardians protesting against the proposal to pay any sum out of the common funds of the Union, towards the law costs incurred in the recent law suit of Ponsford versus Swift.

A Petition drawn by the Chairman was approved of, and copies were handed to the Councillors, who volunteered to obtain signatures from the Ratepayers of Great Longstone who wished to protest against the above.

School Manager

Owing to the appointment of the School-manager having expired, it was proposed by Mr Bridge seconded by Mr Skidmore, and carried unanimously, that Mr Eyre be re-elected the Parish Council Representative manager of the Longstone & District School, for a period of 3 years ending 31st March 1913.

The Clerk was instructed to write to the County Council Education Committee, to inquire if Mr J. Bridge had been appointed as County Council Representative of the Longstone & District School, as nominated by this Council on the 15th of April 1909.

Minute Book

The Clerk was authorised to order a new Parish Council Minute Book.
