Council Meeting – 22nd June 1899
The Fifty-seventh Meeting of the Parish Council was held in the School Room, Great Longstone
on Thursday June 22nd 1899.
Present:
W. R. Hill-Dixon (Chairman of the Meeting)
Messrs R. Coe and H. A. Spanton, and Shimwell (Acting Clerk).
Rev. G. Andrew having sent an intimation to the meeting that he could not attend, Mr Dixon was unanimously elected Chairman.
The minutes of the last meeting were then read and confirmed.
The Clerk stated that he had received notice from A. J. Chamberlin Esq., District Auditor, that the audit of the accounts for the Parish of Great Longstone would be held at the Board Room, Bakewell, on Tuesday the 27th inst. The accounts were submitted to the meeting duly balanced and signed.
Gilder Quarry
The Clerk submitted to the meeting a proposal to have the Gilder Quarry placed under the care of some competent person, so as to ensure the quarry being made and kept in an efficient state for working, and that a small tonnage on all stone got be made to pay the expenses of the same.
As there were so few councillors present it was decided to postpone the consideration of this subject until the next meeting of the Council.
Mr Dixon proposed and Mr Spanton seconded that a requisition be sent to the Ashford Parish Council to repair the top end of the public footpath through Crackendale Wood leading from Longstone to Bakewell, which said footpath is in Ashford Parish.
Carried unanimously.
Signed
G. Andrew
Chairman
