Council Meeting – 16th November 1899
The Sixtieth Meeting of the Great Longstone Parish Council was held in the School Room, Great Longstone
on Thursday November 16th 1899.
Present:
W. R. Pitt Dixon Esq. (in the Chair)
Messrs Coe, Spanton, Ward and Shimwell (Clerk).
On the motion of Mr Spanton seconded by Mr Coe it was unanimously resolved that Mr Dixon be the Chairman of this Meeting.
The Minutes of the last meeting were then read and confirmed.
The Clerk laid before the meeting a letter which he had received from Mr Wright respecting the fences of Gilder Stone Quarry. The Council having proposed for Mr Wright to take the East and the North fences and the Council the West and South fences, Mr Wright objected to the East fence but would take the West. He also complained about work having been done by getting stone in the present face of rock which he considered an encroachment.
As there were so few members present it was decided to postpone the consideration of the letter to a meeting to be held on Tuesday December 1st next, in the meantime for the Council to meet at the Quarry on Saturday the 25th at 3 o’clock to examine the same.
Signed
G. Andrew
Chairman
