GREAT LONGSTONE
MINUTES OF THE ANNUAL PARISH MEETING ON WEDNESDAY 14TH MAY 2014
Present: Cllr Wendy Long, Cllr Hugh Wright, Cllr Peter Thompson and Sarah Stokes (Clerk). Plus 4 parishioners and 2 (Village shop).
The Clerk opened the meeting at 7.04pm.
The Clerk welcomed the parishioners and stated that there would not be a Chairs report this year as there was no Chair.
1. Apologies for absence.
No apologies, Cllr Cox absent, Cllr Thompson absent at this point of the meeting.
2. Minutes of the Annual Parish Meeting Thursday 25th April 2013.
The minutes were proposed by Mrs Caroline Briggs, seconded by Cllr Long.
3. Matters raised by persons on electoral roll.
(7.08pm Cllr Peter Thompson joined the meeting._
3.1 Gravel/manhole/parking Longreave Lane/Longstone bridge. It was highlighted that gravel is coming down from Longreave Lane onto the main rd. Cars are parking under the bridge as well as up Longreave Lane. Water coming out of a man hole in this area was raised, could be causing a blockage.
PC comments. The gravel was discussed at the last PC meeting, with Judith Twigg being involved. The gravel was not an issue historically.
Clerk to report the manhole to DCC.
3.2 Pot holes on Mires Lane. It was reported that there are a lot of pot holes on Mires Lane, particularly in front of the main section of houses.
Clerk to report potholes to DCC.
3.3 Trial on tennis court. It was enquired as to when the trial will start.
PC comments. It was reported that the state of the steelwork is worse than was first anticipated. The steelwork is progressing very gradually, due to volunteers workload. There is seen to be a fall on the court, making the steelwork out of line. The costings are far higher. Council will have to wait if no funds being input. Work could commence earlier if funds put in. The work cannot be ‘codged’ together.
A resident enquired if football could be played without the wood on the courtsides. People are enjoying it as it is, using it for football already. Resident suggested option of sinking a court by earthmoving, digging out a metre with block walling round.
PC comments. This idea was formed as part of the previous proposals which the council had decided not to proceed with at that time.
3.4 Fence panels behind hedge, nr tennis court. The resident asked as per her letter, if the fence panels will be removed/replaced. Some panels on the floor, some upright. The resident being happy if all panels were removed.
PC comments. It was originally put there to prevent the noise of the tennis ball, also put there before the hedge.
The hedge being at a good height was raised.
3.5 Gulley’s. The resident reported that the gulley’s appear to have been cleared out following the last meeting, possibly with Judith Twiggs intervention.
3.6 Village shop. A resident said how nice it is to have a village shop again. Makes a big difference.
The Cllrs thanked everyone for coming and closed the meeting at 7.22pm
Sarah Stokes
Clerk to Great Longstone Parish Council, Longstone Byre, Little Longstone, Bakewell, Derbyshire, DE45 1NN.
