Longstone Area Neighbourhood Plan

A series of consultations and meetings, that started during the summer of 2024, resulted in a well attended meeting on the evening of 7th April 2025, at which there was general agreement by residents of the Civil Parishes of Great Longstone and Little Longstone to work together to produce the Longstone Area Neighbourhood Plan.

The Steering Committee for the Longstone Area Neighbourhood Plan has been meeting regularly and the minutes of these are available below. It has been great to see a new group get together with a common interest and loads of enthusiasm to help develop this plan for our area.

Terms of reference have been agreed by the Steering Committee and approved by both Little Longstone Parish Meeting and Great Longstone Parish Council. These are the two areas that have agreed to come together for the area plan. We have not yet submitted a formal application to PDNPA to start the process – so there is still a little time for other Parishes to declare an interest.

At the May meeting we had a very interesting discussion with Cllr Andy Nash who played a lead role in the production of Bradwell Neighbourhood Plan. It was a really informative evening that highlighted the challenges and benefits of the process.

The next step is to confirm the subject areas for the Workgroups and then seek wider involvement from the residents in the area in developing our approach – so watch this space – your village needs you!
