72.00 Minutes of the last meeting held on the 26th July 2000
The Council resolved to approve the Minutes of the meeting.
73.00 Matters arising from the minutes
The Council requested that the Clerk detail precisely the reason for each and every payment shown in the Minutes of the previous meetings.
74.00 Backdale Quarry update
The Council continued to express concern regarding the ongoing works on Longstone Edge and at the edge of Longstone Moor. The Clerk reported that the National Park Authority had carried out a site meeting and investigation and that they had decided that the restoration at The Beeches was acceptable. The Council’s view was that the restoration was not acceptable. There was clear evidence of scrap metal and other building rubble protruding from the surface of the land and the back fill appears to have been with sub-soil with no top soil cover. The Council resolved to write to the Environment Agency and the National Park Authority to ask for formal reports regarding the investigations that they have carried out into alleged illegal dumping. The PDNPA will be asked to explain why the restoration below The Beeches has been allowed to be carried out in an unsatisfactory manner.
75.00 Planning matters
To Consider
- Demolition of Garage and erection of extension to dwelling and new garage Ash House Main Street Great Longstone: The Council felt that the plans as submitted should not be approved. The Council did not feel that the linked passageway between the existing property and the new accommodation block was appropriate or in keeping. The Council felt the new accommodation should be built directly up to the existing dwelling. The Council also felt that the accommodation was too large and concern was expressed about the lack of car parking facilities. The Clerk was instructed to write to the National Park Authority accordingly.

81.00 Allotment Land/Landscaping
The Council received a report from the Clerk that Councillor Bowering had prepared a specification for the agreed works and this specification is out for tender with various contractors.
82.00 Maintenance
The Council was disappointed to note that the owners of 18 The Meadows had refused to remove their gate directly from their property onto the recreation ground. The Council noted that the occupiers of the property are gaining access directly from their property onto the recreation ground. The Council discussed the long-standing policy of the Council not to allow direct access to the recreation ground from adjoining properties. The Council considered the question again and after discussions formally voted unanimously to maintain its policy. The Council therefore resolved to instruct its Solicitors Godwin Cockerton & Colhoun to carry out all necessary actions to prevent this direct access taking place.
The Council noted that the tender for the mowing of the Old Churchyard and Village Greens is up for renewal next year and the Council resolved to prepare a specification for when the process of tendering was to take place. The Clerk is to prepare the specification and to send out the specification for tender.
83.00 Glass Recycling Scheme
The Clerk read a letter from The Derbyshire Dales District Council regarding the proposed waste re-cycling scheme. The Council was concerned to note that they had not heard further from the Peak Park Authority regarding the alleged pollution in the stream in the old sewerage works.
