All Councillors were present at this meeting.

34.98 Backdale Quarry update
A report was received by the Council regarding the application by Bleaklow Industries Ltd for Judicial Review.
The initial application for leave in those proceedings is to be heard in the High Court in London on the 6 July 1998.
35.98 Planning matters
- Application for erection of Summer House at Orchard House Station Road Great Longstone – No Objection
- Application for erection of conservatory and greenhouse and installation of windows to lounge at 15 The Meadows Great Longstone – No Objection
- Application for installation of dish antenna at Great Longstone telephone exchange – No Objection
- Application for erection of a Conservatory at 23 the Meadows, Grisedale Road West Great Longstone – No Objection
Planning approvals
- Installation of new gate to Graveyard – Noted
- Extension to Dwelling Sylvann, The Close, Great Longstone – Noted
- Extension to Dwelling Glebelands, Station Road, Great Longstone – Noted
36.98 Financial matters
The deposit account £12,264.97
The current account £500
The Council noted the above balances.
The Council approved the following payments:
- D Askew Village Hall Cleaning £100
- Clerks Salary £531
- Administration Expenses £35.91
- M Watson £1232.5
37.98 Village Hall
The contribution of £3,000 from Derbyshire Dales District Council towards the costs of the forecourt improvement has been received. The VAT reclaim has also been received.
The replacement windows are installed and are awaiting completion.
38.98 Great Longstone Business Park
The Clerk confirmed that a letter had been sent to the Planning Inspectorate. Councillor Crowther reported that the appeal has now been put back until November the reason for this is unknown at present.
39.98 Movement of Speed limit on Moor Road and Station Road and matters relating to Parking on Main Street
A report was received that Councillors attended the site meeting with the officer from Derbyshire County Council. A letter from Derbyshire County Council was read to the meeting summarising the outcome and the conclusions were adopted by the Council.
40.98 Parish Magazine
No report had been received from the Vicar regarding the matters discussed at a previous meeting. The Parish Council await further information.
41.98 Millennium Celebrations
Councillor Fawcett reported that he had looked at the possibility of a millennium green however these were being encouraged in more urban situations and it was felt inappropriate for Great Longstone. A discussion followed as to various ways of marking the Millennium. The Council resolved to include in its news item in the parish magazine a request from members of the public to contribute suggestions as to how the millennium might be marked for example, seats, Mugs for children or a party for senior citizens.
42.98 Seat in Feemouth Yard
The Council resolved to accept the donation offered by Mr J Long and to write a letter of thanks. The clerk to supply appropriate catalogues to choose the seat.

- Bakewell Police re CCTV – Councillor Casey volunteered to attend the meeting on the 7th July 1998 and to report to the Council

44.98 Date and time of next meeting
The next meeting of the Parish Council will take place on the 22nd July 1998 at 7.30 pm in the Village Hall.
