Minutes of the Meeting on the 21st March 2001 at 7.30 p.m.
In the Village Hall
Present: Councillors, Askew, Cox, Finney, Bowering, Casey, Hirst, Fawcett.
144.00 Apologies for absence
Apologies received from District Councillor Crowther and Councillor Mrs Gregory
145.00 Minutes of the last meeting held on the 21st February 2001
The Council resolved to approve the Minutes with one amendment noted below
146.00 Matters arising from the minutes
There was a correction to be made regarding the Planning Application for Ash House, the Clerk read the letter which he sent to the PDNPA and apologised for the error in the Minutes. There were no other matters arising from the Minutes
147.00 Backdale Quarry update
The Council heard that there were no new developments regarding Backdale Quarry
148.00 Planning matters
To Consider;
- Application for Consent Glebe Mines Ltd Re Longstone Moor/Longstone Edge etc
The Chairman read out the letter sent by the Clerk to put the Council’s observations on the application. He also read out the observations from the District Council which were in almost identical terms. Further information is being requested and this will be circulated in due course. - Application for store at Stable House Main Street Great Longstone
The Council resolved to approve the application - Notice of Deposit of Peak District National Park Local Plan – Noted
To Note Approval;
- Extension to Garage to form Store: Stable House, Main Street, Great Longstone
- Application to convert Builders store to single storey dwelling, Main Road Great Longstone
The Council noted the Approvals
149.00 Financial matters
To Note bank balances
The Balance on the Current Account was noted as £1000
And on the Deposit Account £1910.93
To approve payments:
- D Askew £75 Village Hall Cleaning
- Clerks Salary £403
- Administration Expenses £82.79
- T Cox £30 Path Clearing(Bell Stile)
The Council resolved to approve the payments
150.00 Old Sewerage Works
The Council noted that no response had been received from the District Council to the Clerks letter of the 5th March which was read to the meeting
151.00 Allotment Land/Landscaping
The Clerk reported that he had contacted the Derbyshire Rural Community Council and the Officer (Mr Dugdale) advised that the Countryside Agency would soon be giving details of new grants. Mr Dugdale recommended waiting until the details are known then he will forward the application forms. Councillor Bowering volunteered to liaise directly with Mr Dugdale and to co-ordinate the grant application
152.00 Post of Clerk
The Chairman reported to the Council the outcome of interviews held on the 19th March. The Chairman reported the interviewing Councillors recommended Mrs Sarah Stokes of Mulberry House, Barn Furlong, Great Longstone for the post and the Council resolved to approve the appointment of Mrs Stokes.
153.00 Maintenance
Concern was expressed about Dog fouling in the Village which has increased significantly during the present Foot and Mouth crisis. The Council resolved to purchase bags to be offered free to dog owners to clear up after their dogs and further to obtain special bins from the District Council for the purpose of disposing of the waste.
The Clerk reported that the small slide on the play area was in need of minor repairs and repainting. The Council resolved to instruct Mr Longden to carry out the necessary work.
The bark chippings under the climbing frame need renewing and Councillor Fawcett volunteered to co-ordinate the work and arrange for the chippings to be delivered.
154.00 Gate onto Recreation Ground
The Council resolved to write one further letter to Mrs Taylor but not to enter into further correspondence on the subject. Councillor Cox will obtain quotes for fencing to be erected
155.00 Correspondence:
- Peak District Rural Development Partnership Workshop on tackling Rural Poverty – noted
- Darley Dale Town Council re Possible South Peaks Councils Association – The Council felt that the suggestion of a further association was unnecessary and would be a further bureaucracy for the Council to deal with. The Council felt well represented by DALC and also felt Great Longstone was removed from the South Peak area proposed. The Clerk was instructed to write accordingly
- DETR Model Code of Conduct for Members – noted

The Council resolved to meet next on Wednesday 18th April at 7.30pm in the Village Hall
