GREAT LONGSTONE PARISH COUNCIL
MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD ON THE
19th DAY OF April 2000
Present; Councillors Askew, Bowering, Finney, Casey,
1.00 Apologies for absence
Apologies were received from Councillors Hirst and Cox and District Councillor Crowther. In the absence of both the Chairman and Vice Chairman the four Councillors present unanimously elected Councillor Casey to take the Chair for the meeting.
2.00 Minutes of the last meeting held on the 15th March 2000
The Council resolved to approve the Minutes
3.00 Matters arising from the minutes
There were no matters arising from the minutes
4.00 Backdale Quarry update
No matters were reported save that the Landowner is known to have engaged Planning Consultants and it there is therefore concern that a further application for Consent may be made. The Council will be informed of any further developments as and when they occur.
5.00 Planning matters
To Consider;
- Continued Extraction of Fluorspar etc. Land at Middle Hay, Little Longstone
The Council resolved to raise no objections to the Application
6.00 Financial matters

The Council resolved to approve the payments
The Clerk also reported that the Parochial Church Council has agreed to make a contribution to the cost of the footpath resurfacing in the Churchyard. Details are awaited in writing. A grant for the safety surfacing in the playground is also likely to be approved again written details are awaited.
7.00 Village Hall
There were no matters to report
8.00 Playground Equipment
The Council was concerned that the slide has not yet been repaired. Councillor Finney is to speak to Mr Long urgently to ensure the work is completed
9.00 Consultation Document regarding Court closures at Bakewell
The Council read the letter from DDDC regarding the proposed Court closures. The Council resolved to write opposing the proposed closure which it believes will adversely affect any local court users and indirectly is part of the continuing erosion of local services.
10.00 Millennium Celebrations
A provisional date has been agreed for the 8th of July however all the Councillors who undertook responsibility for the event were not present at the meeting. The date will be confirmed at the May meeting.
11.00 Allotment Land
The Council heard all the allotments have been let but recently two existing tenants have given up their allotments as a result of this four more allotments are now available.
12.00 Maintenance
The Council resolved to ask Thomas Cox to repair the wall on the recreation ground outside Mrs Beresfords house.
The District Council has reported difficulty gaining access to the Recreation ground through the gate on SunnyBank. Councillor Bowering will prepare a written report and specification to overcome the problem.
The Council also resolved to write to the owner of 18 The Meadows, who without permission has built a gate on to the Recreation Ground.
The Council re stated its position that gates or any other access directly onto the Recreation Ground from individual properties will not be permitted.
13.00 Glass Recycling Scheme
The Council was advised that the mobile recycling unit has been incorrectly placed again. The Clerk will contact the District Council to remind them of the correct placement.
The Council also resolved to look for an alternative site for a permanent recycling facility in the long term.
14.00 Great Longstone Business Park
No report
15.00 Correspondence:
- DCC re Parish Events in the Highway – noted the Clerk will supply dates

16.00 Date and Time of next meeting
The Council resolved to meet next on the 17th May 2000 at 7.30 p.m. in the Village Hall. This meeting will take place immediately after the Annual Parish Meeting which will take place at 7pm.
