142.97 Apologies

Apologies were received from Councillor Woollen

143.97 Minutes of the Meeting on the 18th February 1998

The minutes were accepted and signed

144.97 Matters arising from the Minutes

There were no matters arising.

145.97 Backdale Quarry update

The Council was disappointed to note that the stop notice which the Peak District National Park Authority was to serve had not infact been served. The Council was further disappointed to note that R M C had recommenced work at the quarry despite a public statement which indicated they would cease working.

The Council resolved to write to the National Park Authority to seek clarification of the reasons for the non-service of the stop notice and an explanation of the steps the National Park Authority intended to take.

The Council noted the intention of the action group to seek an early meeting with the Company.

146.97 Planning Matters

  • Approval of building works at Castcliff, Long Lane, Wardlow were noted
  • Hawthorn Cottage, Main Road, Great Longstone. Extension to dwelling. The Council made no objections to the application.

147.97 Financial Matters

The Council noted the balance on the current account £500 and on the deposit account £4920.40

The Council approved the following payments;

  1. Derbyshire County Council £55
  2. Bulbs for Christmas tree lights £70.50
  3. Clerks salary £275
  4. Administration expenses £52.94
  5. Computer accounts programme (Red View computers) £258.50
  6. D A L C clerks training day £5
  7. D Askew village Hall cleaning £61.38

148.97 Village Hall

The Council noted that work had commenced on the forecourt of the Village Hall and that the new windows had been ordered.

149.97 Feemouth Yard Seat

The Council noted that the seat had been damaged beyond repair.

The Council resolved to seek donations through the Church magazine to replace the damaged seat

150.97 Path in New Church Yard

The Council resolved to submit the application for planning consent in anticipation of the Faculty being granted by the Derby Diocese

151.97 Great Longstone Business Park

The Council heard reports from Councillors who had spoken to tenants about the enforcement notice served.

The Council resolved to write to the Peak District National Park Authority with its concerns about the potential loss of local jobs if the enforcement notice removes the tenants. The Council also resolved to express their desire to see the National Park Authority put pressure on the owner of the site to enforce rules as to tidiness and the hours of work

152.97 Illegal Roadside Parking

The Council resolved to enter the best kept village competition and were concerned that the roadside parking at Orrs Corner will have a detrimental effect on the prospects for success in the competition. Councillors will discuss direct with the landowners concerned the difficulties which are caused.

153.97 Movement of speed limit on Moor Road

The Council resolved to request Derbyshire County Council to move the 30 mph limit further up Moor Road.

154.97 Complaint of damage by adjoining owner at recreation ground

The Council resolved to write to the landowner seeking her suggestions for resolving the situation and alleged damage caused.

The next meeting will be held on the 15th April 1998 at 8pm in the Village Hall.
