MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD ON THE
17th DAY OF November 1999

108.99. Apologies for absence

Apologies were received from Councillor Crowther and Councillor Finney

109.99. Minutes of the last meeting held on the 13th October 1999

The Council resolved to approve the minutes

110.99. Matters arising from the minutes

There were no matters arising from the minutes

111.99. Backdale Quarry update

There were no new matters to report

112.99. Planning matters

To Consider:

  1. Change of use from Holiday Cottage to Residential Property, Castcliffe Barn, Long Lane, Wardlow
  2. Erection of Garden Shed, 1 Glebe Court, Glebe Avenue, Great Longstone

The Council resolved to approve the applications

To Note Approval:

  1. Listed Building Consent. Insertion of two rooflights, The Farm Main Street Great Longstone
  2. Continued Use of tailings disposal area, Blakedon Hollow

The Council resolved to note the approvals

113.99. Financial matters

The Council noted bank balances of £1,000 current account and £6,144.86 deposit account

To Consider and Set Precept

The Council resolved to set the Precept in accordance with the Schedule attached hereto

The Council resolved to make Charity payments in accordance with the attached Schedule

To approve payments:

  1. D Askew £90

The Council resolved to approve the payment

114.99. Village Hall

There were no matters to report

115.99. Playground Equipment

The Council resolved to have the area under the Slide surfaced with safety material as soon as the slide has been worked on by Mr Long

116.99. Village Cross

The outstanding work still requires completion

117.99. Millennium Celebrations

The Council resolved to hold a Bonfire on New Years Eve. Councillor Cox will approach the Landowner on Longstone Edge for permission

118.99. Allotment Land

The Council has now instructed the Clerk to act in the acquisition of the land

119.99. Maintenance

The Council is to have a site meeting at Bell Stile 10am Saturday 27th November to discuss further work required which is to be funded from the Minor Maintenance Agreement

120.99. Feemouth Yard

The Faculty for the work is awaited from the Diocese

121.99. Verges including parking problems

Complaints have been made to the Council about Cones being put out by residents on the public highway which prevent others parking. The Council resolved to write to the Highways Authority about this and about parking on the pavement in certain areas of the village

122.99. Best Kept Village Award

The Chairman and Vice Chairman travel to London to participate in the National award and will report to the next meeting

123.99. Glass Recycling Scheme

The Glass recycling site is to be moved away from the school wall for safety reasons and the District Council will fund screening and signage at the new site at the back of the White Lion public house the frequency of collections is to be increased

124.99. Great Longstone Business Park

The Council read a letter indicating that the PDNPA is aware of plans to base a number of vehicles at the site but at this stage no formal application has been made. Further advice is awaited from the Planning Authority.

The Council resolved to note the above correspondence

The Council resolved that the next meeting will take place on the 15th December at 7.30pm in the Village Hall
