The Council resolved to approve the Minutes

163.99 Matters arising from the minutes

There were no matters arising from the minutes

164.99 Backdale Quarry update

No matters were reported

165.99 Planning matters

To Note Approval

  1. Extensions and alterations to dwelling and demolition of garage, Gt Longstone Garage, Main Street, Gt Longstone
  2. Erection of a Conservatory 1 Glebe Ct, Glebe Avenue, Gt Longstone
  3. Extension to dwelling and alterations to access and parking area, Fernlea, Station Road, Gt Longstone

In relation to Item number 1 Councillor Casey stated that he had been told that the Councils comments had not been received by the PDNPA. The Clerk read out the letter that had been sent which reflected the Council’s view of the application. District Councillor Crowther told Councillor Casey that the letter was indeed before the Authority when the application was considered and that she herself had indicated the Councils concerns. The Clerk read out the Approval and the Conditions attached thereto.

The Council resolved to approve the payments

167.99 Village Hall

The Hall has been redecorated but the proposed kitchen works will not be actioned due to cost

168.99 Playground Equipment

Councillor’s Cox and Fawcett have spoken to Mr Long who will complete the work on the slide in the next 6 weeks

169.99 Village Cross

This work has been completed and paid for

170.99 Millennium Celebrations

The Council resolved to hold the sports day and social event on the last Saturday of the Millennium week celebrations or such other ” free ” Saturday as may be available. A sub committee will be constituted at the March meeting to deal with the practical aspects of the Event

171.99 Allotment Land

The Council resolved to formalise the Tenancies of the Allotments and to tidy the Allotment area and properly mark out any vacant plots. Councillor Casey read an open letter suggesting that the walls to the open area be retained to avoid vehicles parking on the land, he also suggested that the village as a whole be invited to submit ideas for the use of the land via “Under the Edge ” magazine.

A discussion followed about the proposed landscaping. The Council resolved to consider matters further when the views from members of the public are known

172.99 Maintenance

The Drainage on Beggarway Lane has recently been improved and resurfacing of Church Lane is to take place shortly. There are continued complaints regarding the defective street light on Station Road and further efforts are to be made to resolve the issue.

173.99 New Noticeboard

The Builder has been instructed and the work must be completed by the end of the financial year

174.99 Glass Recycling Scheme

The Council was saddened to hear that Mrs McGovern, the licensee at The White Lion, had told the District Council that the Mobile Recycling Centre could not be left in the area of the former bottle bank. The bottle bank has been moved to a safer location closer to the White Lion.

The Council resolved to suggest that the Recycling Centre be placed by the Bungalows on Croft Road for a 6 month trial period.

  4. DDDC re Off Street Car Parking Order 2000: Noted, District Councillor Crowther pointed out that the free permit for residents will now extend to 11am.
  5. Great Longstone Area Under Fives, Letter of Thanks: The Council resolved to write a letter of Congratulation on the outcome of the recent OFSTED inspection.

177.99 Date and Time of next meeting

The Council resolved to meet next on the 15th March 2000 at 7.30 p.m. in the Village Hall
